Heavyweight electro-techno business, from the streets of London! Definite big tip right here!
Controlled Weirdness has been unleashing his own dark, distinctive take on techno and electro since the mid-90s - but DJing for much longer, since 1984. From his high-rise studio, an Aladdin’s cave of analogue gear that looks out over South London, Presence Unknown is his latest outlet for raw dancefloor focussed productions that defy easy catagorisation.
‘Theme for Presence Unknown’ sets out the label’s stall, an acid house jacker soaked in the original vibes of Chicago but taken forward into an uncertain future, its urgent modular freak-out and sinister pads making this one for the most intense part of the night. ‘Spaced Out In South London’ on the flip is eerie, saucer-eyed electro, a tripped-out journey through martian melodies and drum machine funk.
Controlled Weirdness has been manning the decks for over 30 years and has a record selection to match with a serious collection of vinyl from disco to electro, hip-hop to house, funk to techno and all shades in between.
This is the first part of his 'Presence Unknown' series - 2 stellar cuts for the discerning dancefloor!
