Rye Wax Youth Mentorship Scheme

Updated: Aug 7, 2023

Across April to June, Rye Wax will be undertaking a Youth Mentorship scheme, aiming to benefit a diverse range of young people aged 18-25 interested in live electronic performance across London. The programme will pair industry mentors with young mentees of a similar discipline, giving them access to curated mentorship. This will run in conjunction with a series of workshops and masterclasses from industry professionals across electronic music.

Each mentor will be mentoring x3 young people, across x3 sessions. The mentees will be chosen to help nurture an existing practice or project they feel they need guidance with, and the students will all be given the opportunity to take part in a live performance at the end of the project if they so wish.

We will have laptops with DAWs available to use on site, along with a range of analogue hardware, backline, DJ equipment, mics and more, as well as a network server for the mentees to access their projects remotely.

To apply, please read about our mentors and the dates available (you must live in London, within the age range, and be able to attend all three time slots) and then email us on ryewaxmentoring@gmail.com with information about yourself including your age and experience with production and live performance by DEADLINE EXTENDED NOW TO 3PM THURSDAY 13TH APRIL. Only applicants with some experience in production and/or live performance will be accepted. Please include information about your location in London, and your accessibility needs. Whilst we are accepting applications from everyone, we particularly encourage applications from QTIBPOC / global majority, disabled and other groups underrepresented in the music industry.

We will be announcing our series of workshops and masterclasses shortly, all mentees can apply additionally to attend these, however they are open to a wider audience of 18-25 year old participants.
